Monique Mitchell

Monique Mitchell is a poet and community organizer + activist from South Central Los Angeles.Monique has worked in Arts Education with Get Lit-Words Ignite since 2016 and was invited to perform for the California State Senate in defense of SB 933, which secured $50M for visual and performing arts education across California. She has collaborated with the likes of Puma, Lexus, March for Our Lives, Cass Bird, Cara Delevingne, Maria Shriver + more, and has been published by The New York Times, Cultural Weekly, and various print publications across Los Angeles. She has performed and led workshops for museums such as LACMA, MOCA, and The Hammer, and for colleges, classrooms and conferences globally.Monique is dedicated to opening the hearts & minds of those in her local & global community by empowering them to live clearly & consciously. She lives to activate, and stands by the belief that to be oneself is the greatest act of service.
